Switch Tech locks need to be added in Elements to make them available to the Switch Tech mobile app for installation.

Whenever changes are made to a lock configuration in Elements, make sure the lock device is also configured in the Switch Tech mobile app. Otherwise, the changes will not apply.

  1. Above the Devices list, select Add, and then choose Switch Tech Lock.
  2. On the lock configuration screen, enter a descriptive Name for the lock. This name will be used to provision and install the lock in the Switch Tech app. It will also be used when assigning Switch Tech locks to spaces, when monitoring alarms, and elsewhere in the system.
  3. Choose a Default reader mode. This mode specifies how the lock behaves when it is online. Reader mode options include Card only, Card and PIN, and Locked.
  4. (Optional) Choose a Schedule to associate it with a reader mode, and then choose a Scheduled reader mode and Off schedule reader mode. (See Configure scheduled lock modes for more details.)
  5. Select Save to save the lock assignment. If you exit this screen after entering the lock information without saving, you will be prompted to save or discard your changes.

Newly added devices are considered part of the Global (unassigned) site. If a site filter is currently active, the new device might not be visible. Change the filter to view it or assign the device to a site.

Switch Tech locks do not support actions (commands) in Elements.

Assign the Lock to Spaces

After the lock is added, assign it to spaces where people will interact with Switch Tech locks. 

  1. From the sidebar, select Spaces.

  2. Select the space to open the space details screen.

  3. Under Access Control, select Add Devices to add the lock to this space.

  4. On the Assign Devices screen, choose the lock.

    Multiple locks can be selected and only unassigned locks will be available for selection because a lock can only be assigned to one space at a time.
  5. Select Done.
  6. If any readers or locks are already assigned to this space, select the Devices counter under Access Control to view the assigned devices.
    1. Select Add to open the Assign Devices screen. The available devices are listed.
    2. Choose one or more locks.
    3. Select Done.
  7. Select Save to save your changes. If you exit this screen after the lock assignments are made without saving, you will be prompted to save or discard your changes.
