Static IP Address
A static IP address may be configured for a gateway or video recorder. This is an option for an environment where device connections are needed and DHCP is not available, or when maintaining both a DHCP-based address and static IP address for cloud access and off-network configuration/recovery.
- On the device details screen, select and then choose Advanced Networking.
- Select Show Credentials. The username, password, and one-time passcode are displayed.
- Connect a monitor and keyboard to the USB port of the gateway or video recorder. These credentials may be used to log in to the Administrator Console and change the configuration directly on the device.
The default settings are as follows:
- IP address: 192.168.0.100
- Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
- Router address/gateway address: 192.168.0.1
If this device is deleted, replaced, or deallocated, the static IP addressed will be removed.
Enable a DNS Name for the Gateway
A DNS name may be enabled for a gateway.
The use of a DNS name is designed to be optionally used on Network Node or MicroNode Plus controllers and should be enabled only if there is no other way of establishing a stable connection to gateway.
Node controllers will experience a brief downtime if the gateway IP changes and needs to be resolved via the DNS name.
- On the gateway details screen, select and then choose Advanced Networking.
- Select Enable DNS Name. The DNS name will be automatically generated for the gateway. It may be copied to the clipboard and pasted when configuring the system.
- Select Save to save your changes. If you exit this screen after changes are made without saving, you will be prompted to save or discard your changes.
The DNS name may now be used when referring to this gateway.
