Prior to configuring Lock function in Elements, the following must be configured in the Aperio Programming Application

Escape and Return Configuration (Lock)

Privacy Mode Configuration

Escape and Return and Privacy Mode Configuration: The user interface for this configuration depends on the version of the lock and the lock's firmware:

Aperio wireless locks that include an Interior Push Button (IPB) on the secure side of the door support several of the lock functions. Pressing the Interior Push Button (IPB) on the inside housing of the lock can be used to communicate to various interior pushbutton lock and unlock requests.

The Interior Push Button feature supports the Privacy lock function.

Prior to pressing the IPB, the lock is normally secure, and the inside lever / REX always allows free egress. A description of the expected lock behavior for the interior push button mode follows:

  • Privacy - The interior push button may be used to select a privacy status. When the lock is in privacy mode, electronic access from the exterior is disabled (changed to locked). Opening the door from the inside or pressing the interior push button a second time deactivates the privacy feature.
  • Escape and Return (Apartment) - The interior push button may be used to select a passage (unlocked) or secured status. Opening the door or pressing the interior push button causes the lockset to toggle unsecured. While toggled unsecured, the lock can only be secured while the door is closed by pressing the interior push button or by using a valid credential on the exterior. Normal electronic access from the exterior is always allowed.

Interior push button lock activity is reported to the Elements app. If “Privacy mode" is enabled in Elements for the lock, then the “Interior Pushbutton Pressed” event is reported.
If "Escape and return" is configured, then the "Escape and Return Mode Started" and "Escape and Return Mode Stopped" events are reported.
