The custom event replaces the corresponding built-in event when the selected event type and conditions match. Changes apply only to events processed after you save the configuration. Previous event occurrences remain unchanged.

  1. From the sidebar, under Configuration, select Custom Event.

  2. Select Add a Custom Event to create a new custom event. To edit an existing configuration, select it from the list.

  3. Enter the Event Name.

  4. For Event Type, select one or more event types.

    1. Start typing in the field to search for an event type.

    2. Select the checkbox for each event type to be included.

  5. Select the Initial Event Response:

    • Pending

    • In Progress

    • Resolved

  6. Select the Severity:

    1. Low

    2. Medium

    3. High

    4. Critical

  7. Configure Display Event. By default, Display Event is enabled.

    1. When enabled, the custom event appears in event feeds instead of the default event.

    2. When disabled, neither the custom event nor the default event appears in event feeds.
Hidden events remain visible on people, device, and space detail cards and can still trigger automations.

  8. Under Event Conditions, configure the people, devices, or spaces to which the custom event applies. If no conditions are configured, the custom event applies to all people, devices, and spaces.

    1. People - Select one or more people, and then select Done. The condition is met when any selected person is associated with the event.

    2. Devices - Select one or more devices, and then select Done. The condition is met when any selected device is associated with the event.

    3. Spaces - Select one or more spaces, and then select Done. The condition is met when any selected space is associated with the event.

  9. (Optional) Enter a default note for this custom event. The note is added to the event response when the custom event occurs.

  10. Select Save.

Resolve Missing References

If a referenced person, device, or space is deleted from the system, the reference is marked as missing. Select a replacement or remove the missing reference. A missing reference does not automatically broaden the condition to include any person, device, or space.
