Schlage wireless locks that include an Interior Push Button (IPB) on the secure side of the door support several of the lock functions. The function of the lock can be configured in Elements or via the ENGAGE Gateway mobile application.

For all lock functions the door is normally secure and the inside lever/REX (Request to Exit) always allows free egress.

None

  • After access is granted, the lock returns to a secured status.
  • The IPB does not do anything.

Classroom

  • After access is granted, the lock returns to a secured status.
  • The IPB does not do anything.
  • Valid toggle credentials (double card unlock) on the exterior may be used to change to a passage (unlocked) or secured status. 

Office

  • After access is granted, the lock returns to a secured status.
  • The IPB on the inside of the door may be used to unlock the door or return to secured (card required) status after being unlocked. The IPB does not put the reader mode in "locked" status - normal electronic access from the exterior is always allowed.
  • Valid toggle credentials (presenting the card a second time immediately after the first time) on the exterior may be used to change to a passage (unlocked) or secured status.  

Privacy

  • After access is granted, the lock returns to a secured status.
  • The IPB on the inside of a door can be used to select a privacy status. Privacy status will disable normal electronic access from the exterior (changes to a “Locked” mode). People who present a card in the locked mode will see the red LED blink three (3) times.
  • Opening the door or pressing the IPB a second time on the inside deactivates the privacy feature.

Apartment

  • After access is granted, the lock changes from a secured status to an unlocked status to prevent unintentional lock outs.
  • The IPB on inside of door may be used to go to a secured status or unlock the door. The IPB does not put the reader mode in "Locked" status - normal electronic access from the exterior is always allowed.
  • While unsecured, the door can only be secured while the door is closed by pressing the IPB from the inside, or by using a normal credential on the exterior.
  • Opening the door or pressing the IPB causes the lockset to toggle unsecured.

Lock functions that invoke changes to the standard door modes, such as “Apartment” which invokes an “Unlocked” mode in response to certain criteria, make use of the “Override” mode on the lock. The underlying reader mode will be maintained and reverted to once the lock is set back to a normal “controlled” state.
