Integration of the Meraki platform creates additional video capabilities for Elements. The Meraki integration may be requested on the Marketplace page.

A Meraki integration requires a license and may affect the system operating costs. Contact your VAR for more information.

Meraki Configuration

Before using Meraki in Elements, install and configure the Meraki products according to the manufacturer documentation.

Elements Configuration

Configuration of the Meraki connector is done in the customer portal.

Meraki API Key

  1. Obtain the API key using the Meraki dashboard.

For more information, refer to the manufacturer documentation, Cisco Meraki Dashboard API, or view the Cisco Meraki Marketplace.

  2. On the Marketplace page, under Cisco Meraki, select Manage.
  3. Enter the Meraki API Key.
  4. Select Save.

Add the Meraki Connector

  1. On the Devices page, select Add > Meraki Connector.
  2. On the configuration screen, enter a descriptive Name for the device.
  3. For the Organization, choose the Meraki organization.
  4. For the Network, choose the Meraki network.
  5. To have Meraki events appear in Elements in the event feed, select Allow this Meraki network to send telemetry to your Elements system. When adding a new Meraki connector, by default, this setting is enabled.
  6. Select Done.

Add a Meraki Camera

Meraki cameras may be added to Elements one at a time or all the Meraki cameras may be added.

To add a single camera:

  1. On the Meraki Connector, select Add a Meraki Camera.
  2. On the configuration screen, enter a descriptive Name for the device. This name will be used to identify the camera in the Elements system.
  3. Select the camera. The cameras are listed based on the MAC address or camera name configured in the Meraki system.
  4. Select Done.

To add multiple cameras:

  1. On the Meraki Connector, select Add All Meraki Cameras.
  2. Select Add All to confirm importing all the cameras, or Cancel to exit this screen without saving.
When importing all Meraki cameras, the camera names in Elements will be automatically renamed with the Meraki system camera names.

After the camera has been successfully added in Elements and is online, viewing its details will display a snapshot of the video from the camera. Select Meraki Vision Portal to view the video.

Meraki cameras may be added to monitor spaces or elevators; however, they may not be added to the dashboard video view.

Events

If the Meraki connector is configured to send telemetry to your Elements system, the events of imported Meraki cameras (camera online, camera offline, video motion detected, and hardware failure events) appear in the event feed along with other events.

When adding a new Meraki connector, the default setting for allowing Meraki events is toggled on. For existing Meraki connectors, the default setting for allowing Meraki events is toggled off. This setting can be changed on the Meraki connector configuration screen.

  • Meraki events may be filtered as an event type.
  • When filtering, the motion toggle applies to Meraki cameras as well as other cameras.
  • Events may be filtered by a specific camera.
  • Meraki events can be used as triggers for email and cloud automation rules.
