Integration of the Honeywell video recorder creates additional video capabilities for Elements. Be sure to refer to the hardware documentation for connecting and powering up the device.

Firmware

Before configuration, upgrade the firmware on the recorder to the latest version supported in Elements. The latest firmware is available at the Honeywell Download Center. Download the firmware from the portal and upgrade it on the recorder.

Recorder Configuration

Before it can be added to Elements, the recorder must be configured by logging in to its web page.

  1. Configure the network connectivity by selecting Setting > Networks > WAN.

  2. Configure the PoE function by selecting Setting > Network PoE.

    • By default, Auto manage for PoE camera is enabled. If this option is enabled, camera IP addresses are managed by the recorder.

    • To keep your own addressing for PoE cameras, disable this option.

  3. Navigate to Setting > Networks > Access Platform. Configure the following settings:

    1. HSV encrypt: enabled

    2. SIRA: disabled

    3. ONVIF: enabled

    4. CGI: disabled

    5. RTSP: enabled

    6. RTSP protocol: HTTPS only

  4. Navigate to Setting > System > General. Configure the Date and Time, Time zone, and DST settings on the recorder.

  5. Navigate to Setting > Cloud > General Setting. Enable cloud connectivity by selecting Elements Cloud for the cloud type. Make sure the link points to elements-prd-ioth.azure-devices.net.
    Connection status:

    • Green: The device is added to the cloud configuration using its MAC address.

    • Red: No network - the connection to the IoT Hub failed. Check the network settings.

    • Red: Wrong credentials - check if the correct device ID was provided in Elements. Check for the correct time, time zone, or DST settings on the recorder, and re-enable cloud integration (disable cloud integration, select Apply, then enable cloud integration, and select Apply).

  6. Obtain the MAC address of the recorder on the box or by selecting System > Information Networks. The MAC address is used as the device ID of this system and is used to add the recorder to Elements.

Elements Configuration

Configuration of video devices is done in the customer portal.

  1. From the sidebar, select Devices.

  2. Above the devices list, select Add > S35 Recorder to add a Honeywell recorder.

  3. On the new recorder screen, enter a descriptive Name.

  4. Enter the Device ID of the recorder. The Device ID is the MAC address obtained in the previous procedure. Enter the MAC address as 12 uppercase hexadecimal characters (0–9, A–F), with no separators.
For example, enter A1B2C3D4E5F6 for a MAC address of A1:B2:C3:D4:E5:F6.

  5. Select the Time Zone for the recorder.

  6. Select Save to save your changes. If you exit this screen after changes are made without saving, you will be prompted to save or discard your changes.

After a short time, the recorder status should state that it is online and online events will appear in the event feed.

Import Cameras from the S35 Recorder

Cameras configured on the S35 recorder can be imported into Elements.

  1. On the recorder web page, add a camera to the S35 recorder by selecting Setting > Camera >Camera.

    • To configure a multi-sensor camera, configure each sensor individually. Assign a remote channel for each camera sensor to distinguish them on the recorder.

  2. Select Setting > Camera > Encode to configure the encoder parameter for main stream and sub stream. The main stream and sub stream will be used as high and low stream in Elements.

    • The HTTPS stream for recorder and camera streaming connections can only support a maximum bandwidth of 40 Mbps. This limitation is due to the original hardware performance of the S35 recorder SOC. This should be considered when configuring the main and sub stream bandwidth settings.

    • For the HTTP stream, ensure that the throughput does not exceed the specifications.

  3. In Elements, from the Recorder menu, select Get All Cameras. The camera configuration from the recorder will be imported into Elements.
The Get All Cameras option imports camera configurations from the recorder and adds them to Elements. This option can only add cameras and cannot delete them. If you delete a camera from the recorder web page and then select Get All Cameras again, the deleted camera will remain in Elements.
