If the gateway needs to be replaced, the hardware can be swapped while still preserving device configurations.

To minimize potential data loss when replacing a gateway that is online and functioning, power off the gateway and disconnect it from the network.

Replace the Gateway

If a new gateway is available, the devices can be swapped immediately.

  1. Connect the new gateway and power it on. For more information, refer to gateway installation.

  2. On the gateway details screen, select and then choose Replace.

  3. Select Replace to confirm the gateway replacement or Cancel to abandon the operation.

  4. To replace the gateway, enter the new System ID on the Replace Gateway screen.
  5. Select Done.
  6. When the new gateway comes online, synchronize the gateway. A gateway synchronization is required to ensure that all devices have been updated properly.

Deallocate the Gateway

If the existing gateway needs to be physically removed while awaiting a replacement, configurations can be preserved. Deallocate the gateway so that the System ID is no longer associated with the system. The System ID will then become available for reuse.

  1. On the gateway details screen, select  and then choose Deallocate.
  2. Select Deallocate to confirm the gateway deallocation or Cancel to abandon the operation.
