If the recorder needs to be replaced, the hardware can be swapped while still preserving device configurations.
Replace the Recorder
If a new recorder is available, the devices can be swapped immediately.
Connect the new recorder and power it on. For more information, refer to video recorder installation.
Select the recorder from the devices list. Alternatively, open the recorder details screen.
Select and then choose Replace.
Select Replace and Remove Data or Replace to confirm the recorder replacement or Cancel to abandon the operation.
- To replace the recorder, enter the new System ID on the Replace Recorder screen.
- Select Done.
- When the new recorder comes online, synchronize the recorder. A recorder synchronization is required to ensure that all devices have been updated properly.
Deallocate the Recorder
If the existing recorder needs to be physically removed while awaiting a replacement, configurations can be preserved. Deallocate the recorder so that the System ID is no longer associated with the system. The System ID will then become available for reuse.
- Select the recorder from the devices list. Alternatively, open the recorder details screen.
- Select and then choose Deallocate.
- Select Deallocate and Remove Data or Deallocate to confirm the recorder deallocation or Cancel to abandon the operation.
