Custom roles allow users to align the permissions with their organization more precisely. They are configured on the System Options page. Up to 100 custom roles may be added to the system.

Configure a Custom Role

  1. Under Roles, select Customize.

  2. Select Add a Custom Role. To edit a custom role, select Edit from the actions menu next to the role.

  3. Enter the Role Name.

  4. Configure the permissions for the role by selecting the toggle switches.

    1. Manage Credentials - Can view people and edit their credentials, but not inherently able to edit their personal data, add people, or change their access assignments.

    2. Manage Reports - Can view, edit, create, and download reports (not including audit logs). Reports include data about people, events, and system activity.

    3. Manage Audit Reports - Can view and run audit reports.

    4. Manage People and Access - Can view, add, remove, and edit person records, as well as manage spaces, people groups, elevators, and floors to control access throughout the system.

    5. Configure Devices - Can view, manage, and configure devices and controller rules, as well as execute device commands and controller rules.

    6. Manage Guest Passes - Can view, add, remove, and edit guest passes.

    7. Configure System - Can view and manage high-importance system options such as roles, integrations, automations, email rules, and holidays and schedules. Includes ability to view events, people, devices, spaces, video, and more.

    8. Monitor Events and Video - Can view and respond to events. Includes ability to view people, devices, spaces, video, and more. Also able to view and execute (but not edit) controller rules, lockdowns, and threat levels.

  5. Save the configuration.

If a custom role currently assigned to users was edited, any permission changes will be applied the next time the user authenticates or when the token expires (usually 24 hours).

Delete a Custom Role

  1. View the custom role and select Delete from the actions menu next to the role.

  2. Select Delete to confirm deletion of the custom role or Cancel to keep the custom role.

When deleting a custom role, users assigned that role will not have any permissions in the system when they log in. If the user is no longer accessing the system, their login access must be removed by another user. If they are to continue accessing the system, they must be assigned a new role.
