When a scheduled reader mode is configured for First Card Unlock, doors will remain in the configured mode and unlock once authorized personnel arrive. First Card Unlock can only be enabled on readers using scheduled reader modes that accept credentials (Card only, Card and PIN, and Card or PIN).

Once a person with First card unlock authority presents their credentials, is granted access, and enters*, the reader mode will change to "unlocked". The door will remain unlocked until the next transition out of the schedule, or the reader mode is manually overridden. *The door must be opened for the door to remain unlocked.

The "Pending first card unlock" status is reported when the schedule begins, and the "Authorized Unlock" event is generated when first card unlock occurs.

For example, if the following is configured:

  • Scheduled reader mode is "Card only"
  • First Card Unlock is enabled
  • Off schedule reader mode is "Card Only"

When a person presents their credentials and enters while the reader is following the schedule:

Has access to the door

Has First card unlock authority
