After the recorder or multi-imager is configured, cameras can be added to the system. Recorderless cameras may also be added to the system by configuring a gateway, then adding cameras to the gateway.

Up to 16 cameras may be added to a single recorder, multi-imager, or gateway.

Connecting to a camera requires its IP address and configuration of a username and password. Refer to the camera manufacturer documentation for more information.

  1. From the sidebar, select Devices.

  2. To add a camera:
    • Above the devices list, select the device to which the camera will be added. Select Add > Camera or
    • On the device, select Actions menu and then choose Add a Camera.
  3. On the new camera screen, the chosen recorder and protocol (ONVIF) are displayed. Enter a descriptive Name for the camera.
  4. For the Record Mode, choose how the camera will record video:
    • Always - The camera will always record.
    • Use a Schedule - The camera will record based on a specific schedule. Choose a schedule currently configured in the system. The schedule must have only a single interval. Holidays will not affect the recording schedule.
    • On Events - The camera will record based on the occurrence of an event and continues to record until there is no motion. Pre-roll and post-roll for event recording can be configured in System Options.
  5. Enter the IP address of the camera.
  6. For encrypted communication, select toggle switch (off) to enable toggle switch (on) the option, Use TLS Encryption.
  7. By default, camera events are reported and appear in the event feed. To configure the cameras without event reporting, select toggle switch (on) to disable the option, Report Motion Events. (This feature is currently only supported on single sensor cameras.)
  8. Under Credentials, enter the Username and Password to be used for connecting to the camera.
  9. Under Streams, the details of the video resolution, FPS, and GOP are displayed.*  Select Synchronize to ensure that the sub-stream configuration will be available for the camera.
    • Live video can be streamed using full resolution (high quality) or sub-stream (low quality).
    • Video recording uses the high quality stream.
  10. Select Save to save your changes. If you exit this screen after changes are made without saving, you will be prompted to save or discard your changes.

The recorder will then connect to the camera, generating an event displayed on the Events page.


*Bosch cameras may have incorrect specifications displayed for the sub-stream.
