Sites may be configured for better organization of devices, events, and access across multiple facilities. This allows the system to be partitioned so that individual site administrators may be assigned to be responsible for monitoring and managing sites. Site operators can grant access to any person in the company to only spaces within their sites. Operators with system-wide access can be responsible for managing the whole system across sites.

Sites may be configured for the following:

  • Devices - Top-level devices, such as gateways, recorders, and Switch Tech locks, may be associated with sites. Their downstream devices will be included for the site assignment.
  • Spaces - Spaces may be assigned to a single site. Global (unassigned) is the default setting. Devices can only be assigned to spaces that are in the same site or spaces that are set as global. If a global space is changed to a site space, all other devices must be within the same site. It can no longer have global devices assigned to it and those devices must be removed manually.
  • Roles - Associate roles with sites to limit the access so that the user can only interact with the objects in their specific sites. Global users do not have constraints and are able to manage the whole system.
  • People groups - People groups may be assigned to sites. Global (unassigned) is the default setting. Spaces can only be assigned to groups that are in one of the same sites.
  • Guest passes - Guest passes may be assigned to sites.

    • If the readers for a guest pass belong to a site, the guest pass will automatically be assigned to that site.

    • If the guest pass has a global reader, then the guest pass is considered a global guest pass.
    • When creating a guest pass, a user can include only the readers that belong to their site and can view or edit only the guest passes to which they have access for their site.

  • Card formats - Card formats may be assigned to sites. Global (unassigned) is the default setting.
    • Per site, only 15 card formats can be downloaded to LNL-series hardware. Use the site filter to view a single site to see which formats will not be downloaded (if greater than 15).
    • Global site card formats are downloaded to all access controllers, whereas site-specific card formats are only downloaded to controllers in the same site.
    • Global priority is used to determine the priority of card formats on each site.

Global Users and Site Users

Global users and site users have different permissions that affect what they can see when signing in to the system.

Searching

When viewing the list of sites, a search can be performed to find a specific site by its name. In the Search Sites field, start typing in the search term. Results appear while typing.

System-wide Site Filtering

Pages viewed in the system (such as devices, spaces, or guest passes) can be filtered by sites. This allows for easier monitoring and grouping of system activity.

Use the site filter at the top of the page to bring up the site selection screen. Select one or more sites to limit the devices and events shown. Select All sites to remove the filter or Global to see devices and events currently not assigned to a site.

If there are active warnings for the site, the warning count is displayed in red next to the site name.
